We believe it is not our city government’s responsibility to overcome longstanding challenges in our city. It is the Big C Church (all of us working together) that has the gifting and anointing to bring these strongholds down.
Current nonprofit efforts simply do not have the capacity (think manpower and money) to overcome these longstanding challenges. God is asking The Beacon to mobilize 1000-plus people to give their time, treasure, and talent by volunteering and/or giving financially to one or more of the participating nonprofits. More manpower and more money will increase the ability of nonprofit ministries to overcome these challenges and change even more lives!
Some of you are already volunteering and/or giving to one or more of the participating ministries. Thank you! To join the movement, we are asking you to increase the amount of time you are giving and/or the amount of money you are donating over the next 12 months. The amount of the increase is between you and God. If you are led to do so, please join up!
Some of you are new to volunteering and/or giving. Please know that signing up allows you to experience God working through you to change lives and help transform our city. We encourage you to sign up as a step of faith and join God in touching literally thousands of lives in our community.
Did you know your church or business can sign up for 1000 Beacons of Light and promote it to your congregation or employees? We provide marketing materials and track sign-ups so you know who is responding. Use this outreach as a discipleship tool to let your people experience God firsthand and apply your teachings through hands-on ministry. Join us in serving together as a family with quarterly "Pick A Project" opportunities. Please click below for details and next steps.
Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? It would help the ministry to provide you with the best opportunity if you fill this information in, but it is not required. If you don’t know what your gifts are, we have provided a short test below. Please write down your gifts to complete step three.
Review the ministries that are participating by clicking below. Select the ministry or ministries that you would like to help by volunteering and/or giving a financial gift. You can help more than one ministry over the 12-month period. Please write them down for step three.
Use the sign-up form below and join the campaign. When you sign-up, your info will be sent to the ministry of your choice. The ministry will then reach out to you directly to share next steps and the ways you can help.

A Beacon of Light is a person, business or church that signs up for the outreach. When you sign up you are committing to dedicate your time, treasure and talent over the next 12 months by volunteering or giving financially (or both). This may mean a one-time commitment to volunteer and/or give or it may mean you would like to volunteer and/or give multiple times during the 12 months of the outreach.
The “1000 Beacons of Light” outreach will run for 12 months from the launch date. You can volunteer or give to the ministry of your choice one or more times during this 12-month period.
You will be selecting one or more of the local ministry efforts in San Antonio (and the surrounding area) that matches your passion. Once you sign up, your info will be given to the ministry you selected. The ministry will then reach out to you to learn more about your interest and provide several opportunities for you to support them.
You are still invited to sign-up. If you are already supporting a ministry participating in the outreach, your sign-up means you will increase the amount of your time, treasure and talent that you are currently providing. This means volunteering more often or increasing the amount you are currently giving to the ministry.
Please notify us by email if you do not hear from the ministry you selected within 5 business days from the date you signed up.
1000 Beacons of Light is a targeted outreach to begin to bring down longstanding challenges in our city. If your current ministry is addressing one of the challenges listed on the landing page, please invite them to join the outreach by emailing us. If your current ministry is not addressing one of the challenges listed, we encourage you to continue to support them. However, please do not sign up unless you desire to help one of the ministries listed.
Each sponsor has a huge heart for our city! We invite you to do business with our sponsors. Their generosity allowed us to launch and maintain this movement.
